A Sound, Disciplined Mind-Mrs Nancy Dufresne

PRAYERS THAT WORK Philippians 4:6 reads, “Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” The Amplified Bible states, “Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything… .” Before you pray, you’re going to have to quit fretting and quit being anxious; only then can you pray effectively. That’s why the prayers of some people don’t work, because they’re worrying and fretting. You can’t worry and be in faith at the same time. If prayer is to work, you must release faith, but worry will keep your faith from working. It may not always be the easiest thing in the world to quit worrying about a situation, but we can quit worrying or God wouldn’t have told us in His Word not to do it. God doesn’t tell us to do something we can’t do; He would be unjust in telling us to do something if it was impossible for us to do. Before we ever pray, we need to deal with worry, then our faith will work and our prayers will work.
