Above the Storm-Carol Hopson

We then looked at Philippians 2:3-8 where God tells us
to have the attitude that was in Christ Jesus, who did nothing
from selfishness and didn’t look out for his own interests,
but the interests of others. Then He didn’t demand
His rights but emptied Himself, humbled Himself and was
obedient even unto death. As we talked about this, the
Holy Spirit began to work in her life to show her how selfish
and self-centered she had become. We looked at other
Scriptures to see where our true joy is found and she finally
recognized how strangled she was by Satan’s hold on her
life. At this point she realized that she hadn’t “killed the
attacker” at the first approach and we went back to discover
how it all began. She then realized that she had let a
seed of bitterness take root in her heart and we talked of
how it grew day by day. That little seed, allowed to flourish,
had brought her to a point of hatred, anger, discontent,
and had almost destroyed her marriage and home.
