Above the Storm-Carol Hopson

I’ve seen it happen over and over
again. I’ve been sitting with a
woman and I’ve heard such anger
and bitterness come out of her
mouth. One woman in particular
comes to mind. Because of her husband’s
work, they had moved to San
Diego from another state and she
hated it, not because it was a terrible
place to live, but because it wasn’t
what she wanted. She had asked to
meet with me and was now reciting
her husband’s faults and all of her
problems. She didn’t want to move,
she didn’t have family here, she had
no friends, she didn’t want to go to a
new church, she didn’t want to speak
to her husband or show him any love,
she hated his job, she couldn’t stand
her kids, and so on. Yet, this person
claimed to be a Christian who loved
the Lord and wanted to please Him. How could anyone get
so off track? How could such anger and resentment take
hold in a believer’s life? Doesn’t God promise that “He will
work all things together for good to them that love God and
are called according to His purpose”? (Romans 8:28) To
help explain what had happened to her, I need to tell you
what the eagle must constantly be on the lookout for.
