nN. Dufresne, A Sound Discipline Mind

One strategy the enemy uses against the mind is repetition. He
will suggest something over and over to the mind, but no matter how
many times or how long he suggests it, resist it by answering it with
the Word of God. Repetition doesn’t make it true. Hold fast to God’s
Word and don’t let any repeated suggestions of the enemy change
your faith in the Word of God.
If you are to renew your mind with the Word of God, you must
do as instructed in Second Corinthians 10:5, “CASTING DOWN
IMAGINATIONS, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the
knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity EVERY THOUGHT
to the obedience of Christ.” As you are renewing your mind with
God’s Word, you must pay attention to the thoughts you allow yourself
to think upon. If a thought isn’t in line with God’s Word, you
must cast it down, and replace it with thoughts of the Word. Cast
down all wrong imaginations, including those that depict the worst
happening. You must make certain that every thought is in line with
God’s Word; if it’s not, you must not allow it into your thought life.
One, who is renewing his mind with the Word of God, disciplines
and closely guards his thought life. As one minister stated,
“You can’t keep the birds from flying around your head, but you can
keep them from building a nest in your hair.” Wrong thoughts come
to everyone; you can’t keep wrong thoughts from coming to you, but
you can keep them from becoming part of your thought life by refusing
to turn those thoughts over in your mind. Instead, quiet your
mind and from your spirit answer wrong thoughts with the Word of
God.
