Calcification and Disease
When oral hygiene is less than perfect, plaque builds up
and the variety and numbers of bacteria that can hide
within the plaque increase dramatically. As calcified buildups
form calculus, periodontal disease can then progress
rapidly.
Some of the symptoms you should watch for that could
indicate the need to see a periodontist are:
1 Bleeding gums
2 Dark red gum tissue at the base of your teeth
3 Loosening of your teeth
4 Bad breath
5 Puss formation in your mouth
Periodontists and the hygienists they work with can
help you control calculus formation and the resulting
periodontal damage.
