Discipline of Prayer
What is the secret to developing the discipline of daily prayer?
It certainly is not based in feelings—there are many days you do
not feel like praying. It cannot depend on circumstances—you
will pray during the storms but when things run smoothly you
will not be motivated to pray.
I have learned that there are two essential elements to
successfully developing the discipline of prayer:
1.You must determine a specific time.
2.You must determine a specific place.
Jesus refers to these two essential elements in Matthew 6:6:
When you pray, go into your inner room, close your door,
and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father
who sees what is done in secret will reward you.
