Mr. D.J. Wourms, D.D.S

In my opinion, based on credible information I have
reviewed, you should not have your amalgam restorations
removed because of a fear of mercury poisoning. If you
want to replace them because they are ugly or defective,
then do it.
It is also my opinion that because amalgam contains
mercury, the use of it will steadily decrease over time due
to environmental concerns. Mercury is used in many
industrial processes and it has found its way into our
water, the fish in the ocean, and our food.
