MANAGING THE TEEN YEARS, an excerpt from the book MOTHERS AND DAUGHTERS: A Special Blend, written by Christian author Debbie Snyder

Excerpt taken from Chapter One: The Beginning

MANAGING THE TEEN YEARS
The teen years were the most difficult for my daughters
and I; maybe a lot of you women can identify with me on
that. All of a sudden your wonderful child is crouching
down in the backseat, not wanting to be seen with you in
public places. They no longer carry on an actual conversation
with you but just sort of grunt or mumble as they walk
by. They look different, they smell different and they certainly
act different.

But guess what? More than anything they still need us.
They may be as tall as we are and wear bigger shoes, have
thoughts and ideas of their own and are practically adults
but they need us more than ever.

I like the way Ed Asner puts it: “Raising kids is part joy
and part guerilla warfare.” We must fight every day to keep
the communication lines open with them, to pray for and
over their lives… never stop. Dr. Dobson says it like this:

“Stay on your knees. Hang on to your faith like a life
preserver. The Lord is at work in the lives of your children,
even though you see no evidence of it at the moment.”

This book is meant for every woman, whether or not you are a mother. It is a devotional that expresses not only our love for our daughters, mothers, and other loved ones in our lives, but also God's love for us as daughters in His Kingdom.
