Many men who have fallen away from God have rejected
God’s role in their lives to be leaders, abdicating their
responsibility. The result is a generation of angry kids. Our
church works extensively with young people, and we know there
are many angry kids without the leadership of a father who do
not even know why they are angry. When you look into their
histories, almost all of these angry children have dads who have
abdicated their responsibilities.
The director of a prison ministry tells me this shocking story.
A man in prison who was a very good artist came to the Lord.
The chaplain thought that since Father’s Day was coming up, he
would challenge his new artist convert to design a Father’s Day
card which could be sold to raise some money for the chapel. Out
of 1,280 prisoners, not one person bought a card! After this
rather sobering experience, the prison chaplain began to
investigate the backgrounds of the 1,280 inmates, and could not
find even one who had any kind of decent relationship with his
father!
