THE ENGRAFTED WORD James tells us, “…receive with meekness the ENGRAFTED word…” (James 1:21). When anything is engrafted, it becomes a part of something. For the Word to become part of our lives and make a difference, it must become engrafted. It can only become engrafted as we feed on the Word of God; our minds, as well as our spirits, must be fed on God’s Word. Our minds are the gateway to our spirits; our minds allow the Word or hinder the Word from flowing into our spirits. We’re not to let the arguments, the reasonings, or the analysis of the mind to rise up and hinder or block the flow of the Word into our spirits. We are to accept God’s Word. For the Word to become engrafted, it has to reach beyond our intellects and sink into our spirits; this is done as we take time to meditate on the Word.
