Responsibility # 2: Set the Standards. Set the biblical standard as to what is acceptable and not acceptable in the house. Belief in God’s Word should be the basis of our lives. Even if you fail, or let your wife down, or disobey God, your family knows you will go to God and ask Him to forgive you. I want my kids to know, “We are the Hoffmans, and we live by the Word of God. We keep our promises. We do not lie or cheat. We are the Hoffmans, we respect authority, are loyal to our friends, and have compassion on those who are less fortunate then we are. The Hoffmans live by biblical standards. We go to church every Sunday because we want to hear the Word of God for our lives, and honor God on a regular basis, putting him first. We read our Bible and pray because we want God’s Spirit, power and truth to permeate our lives. We’re active in our church because God has given us a ministry of reconciliation.
