CHAPTER TEN
The Responsibilities of a Father
Who Fears the Lord
Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the
coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD: And
he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and
the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and
smite the earth with a curse. [Malachi 4:5-6]
Malachi 4:5-6 talks about a curse coming upon a whole nation
when the fathers’ hearts are not turned toward their children.
Today, we have an entire generation of hurting children, angry
kids, who do not have the maturity to process their anger. Much
of that anger comes from the fact that so many do not have a real
relationship with their father, or their father has abdicated his
roles and responsibilities.
I once heard a man on a Christian radio station who headed
an organization trying to promote fatherhood in the United
States. His contention was that kids without fathers were
frequently violent, committed rapes, and even murdered because
they do not know how to process their anger.
