Six Responsibilities of a Father For the balance of this chapter, I want to share the six basic responsibilities of a father to his children. Responsibility # 1: Lead by example Men lead by following the example of Jesus Christ. Men lead in the home by serving. Jesus did not come to be served but to serve and give his life as a ransom for many. [Matthew 20:28] The greater your spiritual responsibility, the more you should strive to be a servant! You cannot be a leader in the Kingdom of God without being a servant! As a father, when there is a choice between going golfing, watching television, taking a nap, or whatever else you want to do, and being with your children, or addressing a family situation, or being with your wife…it is always them and never you.
