A Sound, Disciplined Mind-Mrs Nancy Dufresne
STAY IN THE ARENA OF FAITH
You must not allow the storm and what you may be feeling to
change what you believe. Just because you can feel the test doesn’t
mean that your faith isn’t working or that your faith has failed.
You’re going to feel the test. It doesn’t feel good to the body or the
mind; that’s why you don’t walk by what you see, feel or hear, but
you walk by faith. You don’t lean to your head, but you lean to your
heart, for that’s where faith resides.
Jesus felt the storm that day in the boat, but He wasn’t disturbed
by it. He didn’t let the storm change what He believed – but the disciples
did, and that’s why He rebuked them. Faith isn’t moved by
what it sees, hears or feels – it’s moved only by what it believes.
My spiritual father told the story of the time he was faced with a
test and how the enemy tried to get him to become occupied with
what he was feeling. “Check your body – it’s shaking in fear,” the
enemy said. But he replied, “My body may be shaking, but that’s not
the real me. The real me is my spirit, and my spirit’s not shaking!”
With that the enemy left, for my spiritual father refused to be occupied
with the natural. He stayed in the arena of faith and overcame
the threats of the enemy.
Yes, the body and the mind may feel the test, but your spirit is the
real you. In your spirit is faith, and when you release your faith by
speaking words of faith, you put the devil on the run.
