Look at the workings of the eye. Light enters through the
cornea and passes to the iris, which constricts to control the
amount of light entering the pupil. Just past the pupil the lens
bends the light and focuses it into a narrow beam received by the
retina. The retina consists of ten layers of cells that translate the
light beam into color, depth and definition. Look up for a moment
from this page and consider the things around you in those terms.
