The Troubling Truth About the Trinity
God’s appearance is not the only concept that boggles our
human minds—many of His other traits are simply beyond
comprehension. The trinity is one example.
We worship a triune God—one God consisting of three
persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. How is one God three
individuals? There is no answer that satisfies.
To bring a degree of understanding to the trinity, some
scholars compare God’s three-in-one nature to water—it can be a
gas [steam], a liquid [water] and a solid [ice]. One glaring
problem with this analogy is that water is not a gas, liquid and
solid all at the same time, while God is simultaneously Father,
Son and Holy Spirit!
