Mrs. C Hopson-Above the Storm

It seems to happen more often
than not. Things are going along
pretty well and then a crisis comes
up. Maybe it’s news from a doctor,
or an upsetting phone call. Recently,
I’ve had both and it always seems
to come as a surprise, even though I
know that the Scripture says not to
be surprised by these things.
(James 1:3-5) It’s like a sudden sickness
that attacks you in unexpected
ways; life suddenly looks grim, burdens
seem heavier and the days
ahead loom dark and dreary. I’ve
had those exact feelings when false
rumors were started about my husband
and me. I’m always amazed at
how quickly Christians and others
are open to listen to false reports
and pass them on. I’m sure that I’ve
been guilty also and for that I’ve had
to ask forgiveness and seek God’s control of my mind and
my words.
