And then, as I think of the eagle knowing not to go over
oceans where there are no updrafts to carry him, I realize
that I should be aware of what to avoid in my spiritual life.
Maybe I’m facing a spiritually challenging time because of
a difficult situation, so I need to avoid things that would
cause discouragement or weariness. I need to be in the
Word more, I need to be with people who encourage and
uplift me, I need to get more rest than usual and I need to
spend time in prayer, letting God carry my load. I also
need to make sure that I’m getting plenty of nourishment
from God’s Word for the journey.
All scripture is inspired by God and is profitable
for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training
in righteousness; that the man of God may be
adequate, equipped for every good work.
(2 Timothy 3:16,17)
