Indescribable Images
After receiving visions of God, Ezekiel and the Apostle John
struggled to describe what they saw. That is evident from the
things they wrote regarding His face and form. Here are a few
of their descriptions as recorded in the books of Ezekiel and
Revelation:
like jasper stone and sardius in appearance
a face like the sun shining in its strength
eyes that are like flames of fire
a figure with the appearance of a man who is like glowing
metal that
looks like fire from the loin up and something like fire
from the loin down
a radiance all around Him similar to a rainbow
Now close your eyes for a moment and try to picture what you
just read. Are you able to visualize Him? Of course you are not!
What is described is completely and supernaturally beyond
human comprehension.
