Consequences: A Valuable Tool
Consequences can be a valuable tool in the hand of God. The
pain inflicted by the sharp edge of consequence is one reason
many wayward Christians rethink their rebellion and return to
God.
Consequences also can be a useful tool in the hand of a
repentant Christian. I know a man who made some wrong
decisions; he had been married three times and suffered many
consequences. Though he could not reclaim his wasted years, he
found a way to make the experience beneficial. As often as the
Lord gives him opportunity, he shares his testimony with men
having marriage problems. Those who heed his warning have
the opportunity to learn from his pain instead of suffering their
own.
