I’m convinced that before you begin to teach or study the things that pertain to the Spirit in First Corinthians 12, you need to go back to the eleventh chapter. That’s where Paul lays the groundwork by teaching about discerning the Lord’s Body.
1 Corinthians 11:29 & 30
29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, NOT DISCERNING THE LORD’S BODY.
30 FOR THIS CAUSE MANY ARE WEAK AND SICKLY AMONG YOU, AND MANY SLEEP.
