I want my children to fear the Lord, to understand there are
consequences for their choices, that obedience brings blessings
and disobedience, brings consequences [curses]. It is for their
future welfare that I spank them when they need it. I make no
apologies for that, because that is what God’s Word tells me to
do.
He who spares the rod hates his son. But he who loves him
disciplines him diligently. [Proverb 13:22]
Dads, if we love our kids we are going to spank them. But,
the key to administering a spanking is to never do it in anger. If
you find yourself angry and spanking, stop until you can control
that anger. If you know you are angry, just tell your children to
go to their room and you will come and talk to them later [when
you calm down].
