1) Provide and Protect If anyone does not provide for his own, especially for those of his own household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. [1 Timothy 5:8] One basic, obvious duty a mother has is to provide food, clothing, shelter and hygiene for their children. At a deeper level of providing and protecting them is the idea of sacrificial love [agape love] for our children. That love is not based on how we feel about our kids, or how lovable they are, but it is based on the principle that through Christ we can do all things who strengthens us. Through Christ, we can even love the sometimes unlovable child whom we are called to love sacrificially.
