THE ARMOR OF GOD Paul goes on to instruct us in Ephesians 6:11 to, “Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles (strategies) of the devil”. In Ephesians 6:14-17 we have the armor of God listed: 1. Girdle of truth – to understand God’s Word accurately. 2. Breastplate of righteousness – we are righteous, in right standing with God, because of our redemption in Christ. 3. Feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace – daily walking in the light of the Word and being a doer of the Word. 4. Shield of faith – we quench every fiery dart of the enemy with the shield of faith in God’s Word. The devil will send every kind of fiery dart against the mind, but faith in God’s Word will quench it. 5. Helmet of salvation – knowledge of your position in God because of your redemption, which includes knowing who you are in Christ and your rights and privileges in Christ. It protects your mind, which is the enemy’s primary battleground. 6. Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God – this is using the spoken Word against the enemy. Answer his attacks by speaking the Word of God. All the other pieces of armor are defensive, but this is the only offensive weapon we have. We must continually be arrayed in our spiritual armor.
