THE PURPOSE OF SURRENDER Do you know that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?…So then let no one boast in men, For all things belong to you…and you belong to Christ; and Christ belongs to God. -1 Corinthians 3:16, 21, 23 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body. -1 Corinthians 6:19-20 I was watching a popular TV evangelist interview a pastor from a very large church in a third world country. I had been to his country and was interested in what he was going to say. The TV evangelist asked the pastor what he thought of the Christians he had seen in the United States. He replied, "Well, they are pretty committed." The TV evangelist smiled and said, "That's good, isn't it?" The foreign pastor then said words I shall always remember. He responded, "Well, in America, I see Christians who are committed… but they choose what they will or will not be committed to. They choose to commit to God in some areas but not in others, and that's how they live. In my country, Christians do not just "commit, they surrender!"
