This chapter is vital for the area of discipleship, and is not triggered by any problem in our own church. In my years as a pastor, I have always felt support from our church members. Whenever Mark and I have felt God has given us a vision to go a certain direction, we have felt the loving support from the church. Unfortunately, that is not true in many other churches. What a blessing our church was when we decided to try to buy the El Cajon Towne Center. We invited our church to come and pray with us when we went before the El Cajon City Council. So many of our church showed up that we had no room to put them all! That was one of my most encouraging moments in my life of being a pastor.
