I don’t believe in prayer; I believe in the God who hears and answers prayer! I don’t magnify the act of praying; I magnify the God who hears and answers when I pray!
Prayer does not change things; the God who hears and answers prayer is the One who changes things when believing prayer is made. Prayer does play a role in change by inviting God to move, but God is the One who changes things.
Jesus stood before Lazarus’ tomb, lifted up His eyes and said, “Father, I thank thee that thou hast HEARD me. And I knew that thou HEAREST me always…” (John 11:41 & 42).
Jesus didn’t say, “Father, I thank You that I am the Messiah.” He didn’t say, “I thank You that I am anointed.” He didn’t say, “I thank You that miracles are performed at My hands.” Although all those things are true about Jesus, Jesus wasn’t thanking His Father for those things when He stood in front of Lazarus’ grave.
When Jesus was faced with death, the thing He confessed, and the thing He reminded Himself of, was that He was heard by God.
When you’re faced with need, remind yourself, and confess that God hears you when you pray; He hears you when you talk to Him.
