Partnership Publishing
CSN books and Legacy Line publishing serve our authors through what we call “Partnership Publishing.” In our system, the author pays an extremely reasonable fee to publish his/her book, but unlike almost every other model, in our system, THE AUTHOR KEEPS THE BULK OF THE PROFITS!
For example, for books sold on our websites, both CSN Books and Legacy Line publishing take only 20%, and return a full 80% to the author. Most major sites will take from 50% to 65% and return the meager remains to the author. Despite that generous return to the author, we provide all the major services of any old, traditional publisher, such as proofing, editing, typesetting, cover design, publication, marketing, distribution and publicist services.
The key ingredient that makes us truly different is that the author maintains the same control he/she would have had as a self-publisher, yet enjoys the benefits of CSN Books and Legacy Line Publishing: national publishers backed by a solid reputation within the publishing industry. Our authors enjoy the benefits of self-publishing (control over the final product, large profits), and also enjoy the benefits of a traditional publisher – national advertising, availability through national distributors to bookstores, and the use of our experienced marketing and publicity teams.

Through the years, we have come to understand that it is very difficult for you to determine what publishing system is right for you. The first thing you can arm yourself with is the knowledge and basic understanding of the publishing industry – and that is the purpose of Before You publish – it shares many of the important things that have evolved in the publishing industry since our founder, Dr. Michael Wourms, first started as a ghostwriter to Christian and secular leaders back in 1983. Mike’s dream was to help others write and publish their books to bless, equip, inform, entertain and train others through the written page.
All of these would-be authors held on to the hope that a major publisher would “discover” their submitted manuscript, and that ultimately, it would soon become a best-seller. Many of these authors had recorded quantities of lectures or sermons on cassette tapes or CD’s; they had all received enthusiastic feedback from their conventions or congregations that their messages needed to be provided to a larger audience. Unfortunately, since many were relatively unknown as ministers or authors, so the old, traditional publishing companies were not interested in their works.
As a result, many of these authors found their dreams remaining unrealized as the traditional doors did not open. It was in that atmosphere that CSN Books and Legacy Line publishing evolved. As we studied the various “alternative” or subsidy publishers and book printers, it became clear that some of these companies offered assistance in taking a manuscript to print, some were just printers, and some even offered meager marketing services (with uncertain success or guarantee) for a set price.
In all cases, the author would fund his own work, and would pocket some of the profits when and if the book sold. This concept greatly appealed to us here at CSN Books and Legacy Line Publishing, but we felt compelled to make some modifications to vastly improve the service to the author.
Our investigations found that most subsidy publishers offered a wide variety of services with varying abilities to edit, re-write, prepare the manuscript, gain copyrights, and take the book to print.
However, few of the companies had a professional understanding of the needs of the author. We vowed that our author’s manuscripts would be professionally and carefully handled to ensure the integrity of the work, and to properly prepare the book to bless others.
As a result of that objective, CSN Books and Legacy Line publishing have assembled a team of men and women of integrity who possess the gifts, skills and experience to take your book to print, as well as the ability to assist in marketing the final product.
Our team of experts, each with his/her own abilities, can now evolve a book from vision to completion, and assist you in marketing your work, both locally (your best market) and nationally. We can even “ghostwrite” your book from notes on a napkin (that actually happened!).
