Dr. Peter Colman

…For now we see through a glass darkly; but then face to face; now we know in part; but then I shall know even as I also am known.
(Paul of Tarsus – 1 Corinthians 13:12)
I sat staring through the silent, opaque surface as the sun’s early morning rays splashed and stained the weathered glass with long silver streaks. Just how many scorching summer days and freezing winter nights the frail, voiceless glass had experienced cannot be known.
I am told that the once clear, molten liquid glass of aged windowpanes is constantly moving downward, imperceptibly, with the weight of time and the sun’s irrepressible rays, toward the sill, where, after perhaps a hundred years or more, it gathers to a thickness.
