A Sound, Disciplined Mind
YOU HAVE AUTHORITY
Jesus defeated Satan and stripped him, leaving him utterly
defeated. Colossians 2:15 tells us, “And having spoiled principalities
and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them
in it.” Other translations of this verse state that Satan and all evil
spirits were utterly defeated; they were brought to naught and
reduced to nothing.
Paul told us in Colossians 1:13 that God, “… hath delivered us
from the power (authority) of darkness, and hath translated us into
the kingdom of his dear Son.”We are no longer under Satan’s authority
and dominion; he has been stripped of his power to harm us. We
are now under the authority of God’s kingdom. Jesus defeated Satan,
but He didn’t do it for Himself – He did it for us. We don’t resist
Satan based on anything we’ve done, but based on what Jesus did for
us. When He defeated and stripped Satan of his authority to harm us,
He handed us the victory He won.
