Exercising Your Authority
The mind is the devil’s primary battleground. He attacks you in
the mental arena in an attempt to hold you in the mental arena, for
that’s his arena. If he can hold you in the mental arena, he’ll whip
you. But you are to hold him in the arena of faith. If you hold him in
the arena of faith – the arena of the spirit, then you’ll whip him. You
hold him in the arena of faith by answering wrong thoughts with the
Word of God and then by praising God for His Word.
When Jesus was in the wilderness being tempted of the devil for
forty days and forty nights, He answered every temptation with, “It
is written… ” (Luke 4). Jesus overcame every temptation by answering
the enemy with the Word of God. Jesus’ policy of dealing with
the devil was to answer him with “It is written.”
