The Old Testament conveys basically two messages: the
promises of the coming Messiah and a record of how God deals
with His people.

disobedience, God does not respond, as in ancient times, by
flooding the Earth, sending hailstorms of fire and brimstone, or
turning people into pillars of salt. Essentially He says, “Okay!
Go your way, but you will suffer the consequences of that
decision.”
