Prayer is central in the life of anyone who chooses to fear God.
Luther understood its importance because he knew the impact it
had on his faith. Hebrews 11:6 states that it is impossible to
please God without faith, and no wonder! Faith is simply
trusting God’s Word above everything else—then acting on it! A
person with faith obeys God despite what he can see, hear, touch,
think, understand or experience.
Luther described his faith as a fire, but it was not always so.
Faith of that magnitude does not happen overnight—it happens
over time—and prayer is the kindling that sparks the flame.
Like everyone who chooses to have faith in God, Luther took a
chance. He dared to believe that God’s Word is true—God really
does hear and respond to prayer [Psalm 145:18-19].
