Some do not read the Word because they do not think it is
relevant. The core of that attitude is haughty and tantamount to
calling God a liar! He says that all scripture is inspired by Him
and has great value [2 Timothy 3:16-17]. He also states that His
Word has specific purposes, which will be achieved [Isaiah
55:11]. Claiming that scripture is archaic or irrelevant is
essentially discounting God’s assertions. That is a very
dangerous thing to do!
Others fear that if they read the Bible they will discover
something that requires them to make changes in their life.
That is the point! The reading of God’s Word transforms lives for
good! Whatever is given up for the sake of Jesus is well worth
the sacrifice. Ultimately there will be a gain that far outweighs
the loss.
