Robbing God
God’s first declaration appears in verses 7 and 8. By failing
to give tithes and offerings the Jews were robbing God. If you
have ever had something stolen from you, you know that the
offense goes beyond material loss—the perpetrator is violating
and dishonoring you!
Vehicles have been stolen from me twice! One was outside
my church and the other was in my driveway. Both times I
asked the police if I could expect to get my vehicles back and was
told that in all probability they were in Mexico and gone forever.
[San Diego is close to the Mexican border where vehicles are
stolen, to be sold on the black market.] Instead of resigning
myself to statistics I went to the Lord in prayer. Both vehicles
were returned to me! I do not think it is coincidence that my
property was recovered against insurmountable odds. I had been
tithing faithfully for years!
