Bring Tithes to the Storehouse
God’s third declaration is that the tithe must be brought into
the storehouse. In Malachi’s time the storehouse was the
Temple in Jerusalem. There were literal storehouses to stock
commodities brought in by God’s people...things like chickens,
goats, and grains. The priest’s job was to provide for the people’s
spiritual needs and to represent them before God. Priests did
not grow crops or tend flocks and herds so the tithe was their
provision for food and clothing.
