What Orthodontists Do
Orthodontists straighten crooked teeth.
They also work with other specialists when severe
malocclusions require surgical corrections. Some patients
have bites that are very open in the front teeth and they
cannot bite into foods properly. These conditions can be
corrected through tooth movement and surgical correction
(if needed).
Orthodontic treatment usually involves the movement
of permanent teeth, but if the primary teeth are
prematurely lost due to decay or trauma, then I recommend
that you see an orthodontist very soon.
