CHAPTER TWELVE Fearing God by Loving Others A new commandment I give to you that you love one another. Even as I have loved you that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples if you have love for one another. [John 13:34-35] Obeying Jesus’ command to “love one another” is a central issue when you choose to fear the Lord. It is especially important to love those in the Body of Christ...the brethren. God’s plan for His people certainly includes loving neighbors [Mark 12:31] and enemies [Luke 6:27] but loving other Christians is the priority. I believe the reason for this is when you learn to love the brethren it becomes easier to love your neighbors and enemies.
