Mrs. Carol Hopson-Above the Storm

Just this past week, God did just that for me. While
preparing for a trip, my husband had offered to take things
out of my briefcase and pack them into a larger case where
we were combining our work in preparation for a plane
flight. My thoughtful husband didn’t want me to have to
carry anything extra so he offered to put my things with his
and he would carry it all. This included my laptop computer
and made his bag very heavy. What a sweet, loving
thing to do. However, as we got on the airplane, I asked for
my computer and my folder of work. He reached into his
overstuffed briefcase and pulled out my computer. He then
searched for my folder, the one with all my research and
work in it! He couldn’t find it! Somehow, it hadn’t been
moved from my briefcase with the rest of the papers. I was
not pleased! I was going to be away for a whole week and
was planning to work very hard on this manuscript and my
upcoming messages, but it was all in my folder…at home.
My first thoughts were not about my loving husband and
how he had tried to help me. They were very different from
that. Then suddenly, I realized that this was Satan’s attack
on me and on our trip together. He did not want this to be
a time of growth and sweet fellowship. He had planted the
seed of anger and wanted it to grow. Praise God that it didn’t
and this trip turned out to be one of the most uplifting,
nurturing, special times we had experienced in years.
