Don't Give Up!

So many authors give up on their books selling within a few months after publication. That makes no sense at all. In my mind, a book is something you keep talking about to anyone who will listen.For example, some books continue to sell for years after they were first popular. Some books "catch on" several months, or even several years, after their publication.So don't give up!If you are an author of a published book, continue to promote it to anyone who will listen.Some of the best-selling authors we have here at CSN were not "instant successes." Instead, it took time for their books to catch on and get ordered.In today's market, where there are thousands of publishing companies, and thousands of bookstores, and thousands of ways to promote your book on the Internet, there is always an avenue that will best fit you as an author.

Buyer Beware

When it comes to publishers , numbers can ben tricky things. For example, they may tell an author that so and so many books have been printed. Well, that is different from how many have been sold.Some companies specialize in Print on Demand , which means they could be printing as little as 10 books of a title. And so, when they say, "150 books published last year," that may not tell you much about their real impact in the publishing industry.Another thing to watch is what I call PACKAGE DEALS that include so many books for a single price. If a publisher quotes you a price without even seeing your book, then be careful. It means they are not going to do much in proofing and editing, and when the final book is published, it could be loaded with errors.

Skillfully Wielding the Sword

"Skillfully Wielding the Sword" lays down the proper tools for interpreting the Scriptures in very concise and succinct ways. It demonstrates in plain language how to break down the Bible’s metaphoric language in a way that is refreshing so that clear and concise truth is able to resonate.
Other references have addressed such subjects as higher and lower criticism, archaeological findings, and exegetical theories. This book advances into topics such as eisegesis, emotionally-charged words, and power words of the Bible and how they function and operate within Scripture. It also concisely addresses basic exegetical laws, eisegesis laws, understanding what a principle looks like in the Scriptures, and a few labeled figures of speech including the anatomy of a scriptural principle and how it works. Marked out for the reader is the difference between a principle and Law from which an extracted principle is able to be observed.
Mr. Lanier lightly touches upon how to recognize verses that are to be interpreted as literal and when to acknowledge that a verse is metaphoric. Furthermore, he instructs on how to perform “verse construction,” a tool employed to reveal what exactly is being said to the reader. Lastly, a brand new theological tool has been introduced called “bridged theology” which, when used correctly, crystallizes doctrines or truths that are set in conflict one against the other. It is Mr. Lanier’s sincere desire that as you are exposed to these important biblical concepts, you too will be Skillfully Wielding the Sword.
