Aside from many years as a teacher in primary, secondary, and collegiate level, teaching math and the earth sciences, he is a family man; with his wife of 50+ years, Norma Jo, they raised nine children. John served as pastor of the Foursquare Church of Lemon Grove, CA. With his wife he founded Heartland Christian School. He is currently retired from college teaching and is Director of Arambe Ministries in Spring Valley, Califiornia. As AM director, he has ministered in meetings and Bible seminars in Europe, Latin America, Eastern and Southern Africa.
